Quick Start Must Haves

Create a profile pic, a profile banner, and a watermark. You’ll want to have your bio handy to reference for the vibe, and ensure that everything fits. If you’re saying you’re the world’s meanest, cruelest goth domme… a picture of you in a pretty pink princess outfit may not be the best option for the aesthetic (unless that is your literal thing! Then go for it!).

For convenience, I’ve used one of my favorite websites/apps called Canva to create a template you can use when you’re starting. The first page is a header banner and the second is a watermark. I recommend swapping out the photo in the banner image for your profile pic (or a similar pic for branding purposes). You can adjust the coloring and change the colors in the text to match. Then you’ll change the “your alias” to the alias you want to use, or your @ username.

Feel free to tweak these in any way you’d like for your profiles. Unless you upgrade to the Pro version of Canva, you’ll need a secondary app to erase the background on the second image for watermarking purposes. The header is sized so you can use it on a variety of platforms by repositioning or cropping as needed.

Watermarks

As for your watermark, it takes an extra step or two to get this put on every photo you put up, but it’s important to watermark your things! I use Canva to watermark my items. This ensures that if it gets stolen or posted elsewhere, it’s still linked back to you (you’ll want the watermark to contain your stage name or username) and can’t be easily used by catfishers pretending to be you. Here’s an article if you want more information on why watermarks are important. Your watermark should be on your various profiles in some way, whether on your photos, in the corner of videos, or hidden in any other media you decide to use.

You will want your watermark to have a transparent background. Many editors and apps such as Canva will allow you to do this on a paid plan. If you don’t have a paid plan, use a trial to get that downloaded with the transparent background and cancel before the trial ends. You’ll want to save this somewhere you can easily find it (I recommend using Proton Drive to save your media and watermarks).

Some apps will allow you to save it for re-use within the image editor you choose to use, but make sure you have it saved somewhere else where you can find it, just in case. You don’t have to keep the same watermark forever, but it is good to have a copy of any old ones saved somewhere you can find them.

Editing Your Media

How much you want to edit your images and media is up to you. Some dommes like to use a lot of filters, do a lot of touchups, or have a specific aesthetic they like across their profiles for a matching aesthetic. Some Dommes, myself included, don’t like doing a lot of edits beyond lighting or removing stray hairs, etc. Whatever you are comfortable with is just fine!

Canva

I’ve mentioned Canva already. That is my go-to for light editing (a filter to adjust the lighting or do a simple colorization), adding text captions, and watermarking. I’ve tried several other apps for Watermarking, and I just prefer Canva since I can do a few other things in there. I don’t love having apps or programs that do one task and only that. Canva allows you to adjust the transparency of your watermark as well as the size easily. You can even work on several images at once, as different pages (as long as they are the same height and width), to ensure they are consistent in the coloring, etc. It makes building profiles a breeze!

I also use Canva for light video editing— color fixes, text overlays, watermarking, and video cuts. They have some basic transitions. This is great for putting a few clips together or cutting out weird pauses in a longer clip. It doesn’t have extensive use, so it won’t replace a heavy-duty video editor, but it can handle basics.

BeautyPlus

BeautyPlus is a free app on Android and iOS with premium paid upgrades. This includes things like auto-editing, more options for background blurs, AI filters, and very detailed beauty adjustments. This is my go-to for more extensive lighting, touch-ups, and photo-editing. I utilize a paid plan, but you can get quite a bit out of it for free. It’s my MUST HAVE for editing on the go. The only major downside, IMO, is the inability to add a graphic watermark or save one to add to photos. You can add a text overlay as your watermark though.

The app is easy to use and fairly intuitive.

Gimp

GIMP is an open-source software akin to Photoshop. Except it’s completely free to download. GIMP has been around for two decades, so there are a TON of tutorials on YouTube alone, and many sites with free resources. There’s a learning curve to it, but if you like to do a lot of advanced photo editing or manipulation, it’s a great desktop software to have in your lineup.

VideoLeap

My go-to for making hypno-style or more advanced video edits on mobile. Videoleap has great templates with transitions or cool add-ins, and it will easily up your game with an easy-to-use interface. It’s available on both Android and iOS, and has some free features; but I recommend going paid.

DaVinci Resolve

I don’t know how to use this desktop software yet, but I see it highly recommended often. If you like a professional-grade video editing software, DaVinci Resolve is free to download and use. It’s very advanced and has a learning curve. I have played around in a bit, but not been able to dedicate time to learning it. I wanted to mention it anyway.

Organizing your media in Notion

I use Notion to organize my media, content strategy, client files, etc. The ChaosHive Planner is a great template if you want to get up and running quickly, or you can take the time to create your own setup. The ChaosHive Planner does contain it all though; not just content tracking, but receipt tracking, CRM, etc.
